Germany manager Joachim Low is to speak with Bayer Leverkusen striker Stefan Kiessling over a potential international call-up.
Kiessling has scored five times in the Bundesliga this season, having been crowned the league s most prolific player in the previous campaign.
However, he has not featured for Germany since 2010, when he was an unused substitute in a 6-1 win over Azerbaijan.
With Miroslav Klose and Mario Gomez both ruled out of October s FIFA World Cup qualifiers against the Republic of Ireland and Sweden, Low looks set to turn to the 29-year-old.
Stefan Kiessling is a striker who has put in very good performances in the Bundesliga over the years, Low said according to Bild.
I will have a conversation with him and discuss a few things internally. I will never write him off because he has very good qualities.
Low explained that Klose and Gomez are the best options , before stating that Max Kruse and Kevin Volland, of Borussia Monchengladbach and Hoffenheim respectively, are in the foreground .
