Paris Saint-Germain coach Laurent Blanc has not given up hope of signing Newcastle United s Yohan Cabaye.
The French champions have spent over €90million during the close-season, but Blanc is keen to strengthen even further ahead of their title defence, with Cabaye a player that interests him.
Cabaye left Lille in Ligue 1 to join Newcastle in 2011, but reports have linked him with a move back to his homeland.
His performances for Alan Pardew s side have impressed Blanc and rhe emains keen on signing the central midfielder.
He is a very good player, he told Le Parisien. I have not changed my mind.
For now, he is at Newcastle, I also read that Tottenham were interested.
Newcastle, Tottenham or Paris; I hope that he will be at a big club in September.…
A group of 30 top players will face random drugs tests five times a year under a plan to tighten English football s controls on the use of performance-enhancing and recreational drugs, it emerged on Tuesday.
UK Sport, the body responsible for doping control in the United Kingdom, is planning to create a register of 30 players who will have to be available for testing every day of the year.
Andy Parkinson, UK Sport s head of operations for a drug-free sport, told The Sun newspaper that the aim was to protect the image of the game by bringing football s controls into line with the more stringent regimes in place in athletics and cycling.
The last thing we want is for football to be in that position where it doesn t focus enough doesn t put controls in place and…
Teenage Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt is honoured by the reported interest of Juventus and hinted that he is maybe ready to leave the Eredivisie.
De Ligt made his breakthrough in the 2016-17 campaign as a 17-year-old, making 11 appearances in the Dutch top flight.
His performances that season led to his first senior Netherlands cap in March 2017, while he has continued to develop impressively, earning plaudits.
De Ligt, who does not turn 19 until August, featured 33 times as Ajax just fell short in the 2017-18 title race and is being tipped to leave his homeland, with Juventus said to be among those particularly keen.
And while he says he is unsure about his future, he could not hide his pride about Juve s apparent interest.
Great city, great…
According to a recent report
from Sky Sports News, Nicolas Pepe has landed in England ahead of his proposed

for a fee of around £72 million, which comes after a fantastic season in
2018/19 in which he was able to score 22 league goals in Ligue 1. Pepe has been
linked with a move to the Premier League for longer than we can remember, and
now, it appears as if the Gunners have won the race for his signature.

Market: Barnsley win
Odds: 8/15 @
Two sides who find themselves battling it out at opposite ends of the League One table, Barnsley will welcome Carlisle to Oakwell on Tuesday night.
Starting with the hosts, while Barnsley might have suffered play-off heartbreak last season, the Tykes have their sights firmly set on securing a Championship return in 2024. Last seen over the weekend putting in another eye-catching performance as they secured a 2-1 victory at home against Bristol Rovers, Neill Collins will certainly be smelling a golden opportunity here. Opening the midweek fixtures battling it out in the top-six chase, the Yorkshire-based outfit are unbeaten in all of their previous seven appearances across all competitions. With their extended flurry underlined b…

As millions around the world continue to deal with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, one slice of normality has remained the same sport. We re now in February and that means we re going to be experiencing a whole lost of games coming at us thick and fast between now and May, which is especially true in the English Premier League. Today, we re going to take a look at a fixture that can be viewed as a must win for both sides Tottenham Hotspur vs Chelsea.
Tottenham
The Jose Mourinho effect is starting to wear off in quite a notable way for Tottenham Hotspur with fans wanting to see some positive football and, crucially, some goals. This doesn t feel like a team that is going to be in the title hunt which we all…
Fulham will hope to avoid another early exit from the League Cup when they host Everton in the third round on Tuesday.
The London club were knocked out at this stage in 2011 against Chelsea, before being dumped out a round earlier against Sheffield Wednesday last year.
They have never managed to progress beyond the quarter-finals in the competition s 53-year history.
Their poor record was nearly extended when they almost fell at the first hurdle this time around, with a Hugo Rodallega strike three minutes before the end of extra time taking their clash with Burton Albion to penalties before they eventually ran out 5-4 winners.
There was a similarly uncomfortable passage into the third round for Roberto Martinez’s Everton, who needed a Marouane Fellaini goal in …
Sam Allardyce has revealed that he also signed Robert Lewandowski for Blackburn Rovers, during his time as manager at the club.
The Poland international held talks with Rovers during the summer of 2010, but the club s financial restrictions, coupled with the volcanic ash cloud that caused the suspension of flights in and out of the country, thwarted the move.
Lewandowski went on to sign for Borussia Dortmund and the West Ham manager admits he is still haunted at missing out on the striker.
I think about it every time I see him play, Allardyce said.
My distant memory isn t that great but I think John Williams [former Blackburn chairman] and the board said we are not going to commit that amount of money.
I think they wanted three or 4 million eur…
that Liverpool will be able to sign Birmingham City winger Demarai Gray for £3m next summer.
The nineteen year old has attracted suitors from the Premier League over the summer, with newcomers Bournemouth tabling a £5m bid which was subsequently turned down.
Gray penned a new contract, though the deal includes a buy-out clause that the Reds are ready to match.
Since breaking into the Birmingham first team in October 2013, the teenager has racked up sixty-one appearances, scoring seven goals.
He was named his club’s Academy Player of the Season at the end of the 2013/14 campaign, while internationally he has been capped at every level from U18 to U20.
His last outing for Gary Rowett’s men came in Tuesday evening’s League Cup third ro…
Slaven Bilic believes Andy Carroll could represent England at next year s UEFA Euro 2016 competition if the injury-prone striker can stay fit.
Carroll, 26, has spent just as much time on sidelines than on the park in his time at West Ham since joining from Liverpool in 2013.
The striker has suffered from knee and ankle ligament injuries recently after also missing five months in 2013-14 with a heel problem.
Carroll made his first start since February in West Ham’s Carling Cup loss against Leicester last week, and, despite a knock on the weekend, he is expected to take to the field against Sunderland on Saturday.
Providing Carroll can stay fit throughout the season, Bilic cannot see why Carroll would not be selected for England s Euro 2016 campaign in Fr…
